His hobbies include playing chess and reading tech blogs, activities that he can easily fit into his tight schedule. Adam's shopping experience is shaped by his need for efficiency and his preference for popular, high-demand items, which he believes offer the best value based on public opinion.

Lee's goal when shopping at grocery stores is to quickly gather everything he needs so he can return to work without delay. He doesn't mind small price increases if it means securing high-demand items that others find valuable. His feelings are influenced by his job's high demands, pushing him to prioritise speed and convenience. Lee’s approach is pragmatic and decisive, reflecting his driven personality and his constant need to optimise his time for work.

Joseline thrives on keeping things neat and methodical. She enjoys having a system in place for everything and gets flustered when things are chaotic. Besides, she has a strong analytical mind and enjoys using data to solve problems. She is proactive and enjoys finding creative solutions to challenges.

In her working environment, her biggest worries are stockouts and inventory overload. These worries are also shown in the process of managing her available resources at home. Emma, a 24-year-old graphic designer, lives in Kuching, Sarawak. Her path to this point has been distinguished by tenacity and resolve, especially after a terrible accident at the age of ten that resulted in the amputation of her right arm. Emma had a renewed love for painting and learned how to paint and sketch with her left hand thanks to their assistance. Her future profession was paved by this artistic outlet, which also functioned as a type of therapy. Emma's talent and hard work led her to a fulfilling role in graphic design, where she excels today.

In addition to her career success, Emma discovered a sense of purpose through volunteering. Drawing on her personal experiences, she provides empathy, support, and motivation to children undergoing rehabilitation. Emma's experience has given her a special viewpoint and a great deal of empathy for people going through comparable difficulties. She frequently uses her experience to inspire and uplift people around her by showing that hardship can be surmounted with tenacity and a positive outlook. Emma's life, which was filled with both setbacks and victories, is proof of the resilience of the human spirit as well as the transforming potential of art and social support.

Scenario
1. Busy Professional

One evening, after a long day at the office, Lee realises that the pantry is almost empty. Knowing that there won't be time to pick up groceries tomorrow because of the busy schedule, Lee decides to stop by the supermarket on the way home. Upon arriving, Lee quickly navigates through the aisles, grabbing essential daily products that he needed such as eggs and toilet paper.

Lee quickly walks to the self checkout counter to skip the long queue at the traditional counter. He scanned the items swiftly and checked on screen to make sure that the items were correct. He then proceeded to pay and thought of the experience with checking out on a self checkout counter last time, which he had problems paying, had to wait for a long time and was late for work. This time, he did it carefully and paid successfully. Finally, he packed his items and left the grocery store.

2. Inventory Manager

It is Friday and Joseline plans to get some groceries from the shopping mall after work the next day. She would like to check the stock at her home and see what she has to get. The next day, Joseline goes to the grocery store after work. When she is shopping, she would consider the available resources at home and the time span that she would need to consume the product to prevent depreciation and wastage. After selecting the items, she would need to checkout.

She went to the self-checkout counter and went through the process as instructed. Unfortunately an error occurred when she was making the payment. She has to cancel the payment and wait for the assistance from the staff. Fortunately, there was a staff member at the self-checkout counter to aid her. Finally, she completed the checkout and left the grocery store.

3. Disabled Person

After the lunch, Emma makes a shopping list of everything she needs before heading shopping, including milk, biscuits, apples, and more. She makes the decision to drive the ten minutes to the nearby grocery store from her home. At the store, she grabs a cart and begins looking for the items. She finds and places milk, biscuits, and apples in her trolley. Throughout her shopping journey, she reviews each item, inspecting product labels and packaging for any discrepancies.

After completing her selections, Emma makes her way to the self-checkout counter to proceed with her payment. She initiates the process by tapping the screen, verifies her membership status, and scans the barcodes on her items. However, she is hardly able to scan the barcode by only using her left hand. She always adjusts the view of the barcode to the scanner. Finally, she completed the process of scanning the barcode after a long time. Then, she decides to use her debit card to finish the transaction, and packs her items into a bag. Lastly, she takes her items and goes back to home.

The three main tasks users need to perform are: Scan  QR code Select items  Make payment We created high-fidelity prototypes using Figma, incorporating the wireframes and design ideas from project part 3. Each team member was assigned different features of the TakeNGo app to complete the prototypes on time, allowing us to move to the next process: user testing and evaluation. In the testing and evaluation process, we prepared briefing notes for our 3 targeted users, which consists of Lee, the busy professional. Joseline, the inventory manager with her sister, Jacqueline and Emma, the disability person. Then, we asked the users to use the app i...

Project 3 - Conceptual & Physical Design

Storyboard Task 1: Select items and Task 2: Scan barcode In our proposal, the action of selecting items and scanning barcodes are done simultaneously. When a user selects an item and puts it inside his shopping basket or bag, the item is automatically added to the virtual cart in our application and the user does not have to scan the barcode. Task 3: Make Payment Alternative Designs (Crazy 8) We are applying the Crazy 8 method to our interface design project in order to generate ideas fast. Each of us has eight minutes to create eight alternative interface sketches in this quick and enjoyable activity. It encourages creative thinking and the generation of as many different ideas as possible without being overly concerned with details. At the end of the activity, we discuss and choose the best idea for each concept by voting. This ...
